Our Process

A home built by Dovetail Custom Homes is built with pride and quality from the ground up.

Each home is built on a 10" wide foundation wall embedded with 4 rows of reinforcing steel. The foundation wall is placed on footings 20" wide and 10" deep.

Dovetail Custom Homes uses all plywood construction. 5-ply fir plywood is used for all exterior wall and roof sheathing. 5-ply fir tongue & groove plywood is used for all subflooring.

Each home is protected against ice dams with 6' of ice & water shield at the eaves and 3' on each side of all valleys. Every home includes 30-year architectural shingles.

Energy efficient windows and patio doors with low maintenance exteriors and wood interiors are a standard feature. Customers can choose from vinyl clad Andersen 400 series windows or the Ultrex Marvin Integrity line.

Every home is roughed-in with a wiring infrastructure capable of supporting all your future needs including computer network, home office, multiple phone lines, home theater, whole-house audio and distributed video. Cat-5e and RG-6 Quad Shield cable is used for phone, data and video distribution.

An energy efficient home begins with the insulation. The walls are insulated with R-21. Attic spaces and cathedral ceilings are insulated with R-38.

A high efficiency multi-zone hydro-air heating and cooling system with programmable thermostats provides a comfortable and highly flexible system.

All wood burning fireplaces are built to Rumford design parameters. These fireplaces are extremely functional and enjoyable.

Our standard trim package includes 3½" wide colonial casing and 5¼ " baseboard. Standard dining room trim includes crown molding, chair rail and shadow box. Custom trim moldings and built-ins are available.

Each home is equipped with an alarm system, central vacuum, occupancy sensors and is backup generator power ready.
